Lastly for this year’s Asexual Awareness Week special edition of Lynn Rambles About Books And Uses Slides, I’d like to delve into the self-promo for a moment and talk about my books in a bit more depth because, being an acespec author, it tends to crop up in my books too.

So, hi! Let me introduce you to some of my books! 😀

I Want [This], But Make It Ace: Part 3

Yep, I’m still at it with the slide presentations. This is the last instalment in the mini-series. I’ll be delving into more generalised recommendations for representation. Basically, I’m taking a genre, a trope or a character archetype, etc that multiple people have asked for and grouped together 3-4 books that include both that and acespec representation. This is a special Asexual Awareness Week mini-series and focuses largely on trying to highlight some of the many books that are out there, but you may not have heard of them before.

Included in this video are:
Pirates and Captains and Such Things
Historical Fiction
Upcoming 2020 Releases

This is part 3 because otherwise this would be a very long video.

Where to Find More Acespec Fiction

Posted October 23, 2019 by dove-author in Ace & Aro Rambling / 0 Comments

Welcome back to another instalment of my Asexual Awareness Week mini-series on fictional ace representation. Today I’m taking a quick break from recommending you specific book titles to stop and ask “But where do you FIND them, Lynn?”

The cheeky answer is that I looked until things started to turn up and then they just kind of… never stopped coming, but that doesn’t actually offer you anything concrete. So here are just some of the places and ways you can find asexual characters in literature.

AVENwiki: http://wiki.asexuality.org/Asexuality_in_fiction
AVEN forums: https://www.asexuality.org/en/
The Aromantic and Asexual Character Database: http://claudiearseneault.com/?page_id=1320
FYeahAsexual’s Actually Asexual 5.0 List: https://fuckyeahasexual.tumblr.com/post/174917178518/find-ace-characters-within-video-games
Coolcurrybooks’ way more entertaining slides: https://coolcurrybooks.tumblr.com/post/187108843908/asexual-spectrum-protagonists-in-science-fiction (This is part of a series about queer characters in SFF) She also has a database with lots of queer SFF in general: https://queersff.theillustratedpage.net/

And there’s plenty of other lists out there too, but these are the ones that have been most useful to me and should offer you a well-rounded way of finding the books that’ll work for you.

My Go-To Recs for Aces in Fiction: Part 2, the Ebook Edition version

Posted October 22, 2019 by dove-author in Ace & Aro Rambling / 0 Comments

Welcome back! I hope you all weren’t particularly attached to my masked face because it is time for the ebook all-slides portion of the program! Today for Asexual Awareness Week, I’m continuing my discussion of aces in literature and fiction by mentioning some more of my go-to recommendations to people.

I’ll tell you what I loved about them, what they’re about, all that goodness. If you’re looking for asexual characters in fiction, these are a great place to start and it’s basically another video of me geeking out about other people’s books with no regard for genre or theme or anything.

Welcome back to Lynn Rambles! Today I’m diving into some of my go-to recommendations for asexual characters in fiction. With video because I actually get to wave print books around at you! This video is part of a mini-series I’ve recorded for Asexual Awareness Week 2019 and it pretty much covers a chunk of my go-to recommendations. I talk about the representation in the books, things you may want to watch out for, all that goodness.

But these are some of my personal favourites. Tomorrow, I’ll have an ebook version for you because, oh, did you think I was done giving recommendations? Oh, sweet viewer, there is *so* much more to mention. You’re in for a treat!

Let’s Talk Acespec Fiction for Asexual Awareness Week 2019

Posted October 20, 2019 by dove-author in Ace & Aro Rambling / 0 Comments

It’s Asexual Awareness Week again and this is going to be the first video in a series discussing literature with asexual characters. This video aims to provide people with a general overview of what the state of ace representation in fiction is like right now. (It’s not great*, but I guarantee you, it’s better than most people think.)

This video is the first in a mini-series talking about asexual representation. I’ll be covering my go-to recommendations, more specialised recommendations, where you can find the representation yourself… All good stuff to help prepare you find the representation that you’re looking for!

But this video is just an introductory one where I geek out about books, as I do.

* Nominate me for an Understatement of the Century Award.
