Blurb

Elaine is just an average young woman. If you ignore the wealth she inherited when her family died in an accident and the greenhouse holding a talkative yellow (read: golden) flamingo with a flair for drama and theatrics. She’s living a completely normal life. Clearly.

Until the stormy night a talking aye-aye in a bomber jacket breaks into her house and drags her along into a world of spies and evil scientists attempting to take over the world. And her best friend is in danger.

All That Glitters is a novella full of glorious nonsense and amusement as Elaine tries to deal with a world in which animals talk, her best friend has been kidnapped and life isn’t what she always believed it to be.

Useful and/or Important Release Information

All That Glitters will only be available for preorders at Kobo. It will be added and released to other eretailers as well as available directly via Itchio and Payhip closer to April. It will, most likely, also be available on Amazon eventually because, well, like most indie authors I do rely on those sales for income, but we’ll see how far I can go without it. At this point in time, it will only be available in ebook format. There is a very small chance that revisions push it into a length where it’s worth making a print edition, but I would count on it not existing for the foreseeable future.

This novella is also very different from my usual stories. It is weird and wacky and silly good fun. Which, not that I don’t think my other books aren’t good fun, but they’re also not comedic in any way. So just be aware of that.

At this moment, I can’t think of any necessary content warnings. If you’ve ever watched a spy comedy, you have a general idea of what to expect.

There is a small chance the release will be pushed back to November 11th. This shouldn’t happen because the novella only needs a chunk of polish, but I wanted to be sure to account for it and give people a heads-up. Keeps me accountable and all that. Why that precise a date? Because November 11th is the generally accepted birthday of James Bond. Which feels appropriate for a spy comedy. (April 13th, if you’re curious, is the date Casino Royale was published.)

Note that there is no preorder discount for this book at this time. If that changes, I’ll be sure to let people know!

Is the novella finished?

Oh, yes. It’s just with the year I’ve had and the struggle to write anything that’s been going on before then, I’d rather be safe and transparent about the possibility existing. I don’t foresee any issues getting the bit of work that needs doing done in about 3.5 months, but the chance is there. If I do end up having to push it back, it’s likely because the polish became “And now I made it twice as long, why am I please send help” which means the polishing of the other half of the novella would take longer. On the plus side, that longer wait would probably come paired with “The novella is now long enough for a print edition” as well as a price increase to account for the longer length, so it would also have its perks. Silver linings?

I think that’s everything. Happy new year to everyone! May your 2026 be amazing!
